Sifiso Ngobese of Unconventional Media

Sifiso Ngobese is a young social entrepreneur who believes challenging the status quo should be a form of lifestyle for everyone. An economist by training, who decided to leave his daily comforts at an Investment Bank in Johannesburg to pursue his dreams and goals as a social entrepreneur.

Raised by a single parent in a shack or some Landlord’s cottage I have always been troubled and heavy-burdened by lack and poverty. I however always knew I had to work hard at school, knowing one day education and hard work will unlock to some state of utopia.

As a member of the Golden Key Honours Society I was invited to partake in Investec’s interview process for its first Risk Management Graduate Programme. Fortunately I was selected as one of the four graduates where I spent 20 months rotating in various risk management areas. Subsequently, I spent an additional 2 years in Group Credit Risk before I decided to jump ship to find contentment.

Few months after leaving Investec my brothers and I bought into the Fish and Chip franchise in Soweto. A part of me felt a sense pride and accomplishment. But a great part of me was still not content.

A year later Unconventional Media was born. A company that is not only innovative in the outdoor media space but that is also a catalyst for social change.
